Biodiversity Conservation Activities at the SESERAGI Pond
At the Nikaryo Seseragi Center, we have established a Biodiversity Conservation Activities (Plants) Team and are carrying out these activities in parallel with the Tama River Cleanup Program.
With the goal of making Seseragi Pond a safe, welcoming, and livable environment for a wide variety of organisms, our main activities include the control of designated invasive alien species and other invasive plants, as well as vegetation surveys.
Because our activities are planned in response to seasonal and environmental changes, the focus differs each month, allowing participants to enjoy a wide range of conservation activities throughout the year. Details of each session can be found in our activity reports.
While we aim to build activities rooted in the local community, particularly involving local students, we also welcome participants from outside the prefecture. As a result, this program provides a valuable opportunity for people from diverse backgrounds to connect and interact.
We carry out these activities with the hope of preserving a healthier and more vibrant Seseragi Pond for future generations. Although the core objective is biodiversity conservation, we also hope that each participant can enjoy the experience and think about environmental conservation more broadly, without being limited strictly to the framework of biodiversity protection.
Please feel free to join us and experience the activities firsthand!
These biodiversity conservation activities around the Nikaryo Seseragi Center are supported by the Tokyu Foundation’s “Creating a Beautiful Future for the Tama River” grant.

We look forward to your registration!
